Word from the Chairman
Dear friends,
We had a wonderful promotion party on 18 September. More about this in this Philanthroop.
Covid-19 has drastically shaken our society. Thousands of people have died from it and many of us are still experiencing the nasty consequences of this pandemic.
The flooding in July in Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany caused many worries for thousands of people. Many have lost everything they have worked for over the years. Our association has therefore decided, through the National Board, to donate 10.000 Euro to the Province of Liège. Each department has paid part of this according to its ability. The Province of Limburg contributed 700 Euro.
It also contains an important announcement concerning our Philanthroop. Please read it carefully.

Promotion party Saturday 18 September 2021
The board was pleased to welcome back members to our awards ceremony after such a long time. Unfortunately, attendance was lower than in other years, but given covid-19 rules, we were more than satisfied. The board had done its best to make sure everything ran smoothly. French and German speakers were able to follow the ceremony via a PowerPoint presentation.
During the official part, the firefighters Chris Medo and Benni Smulders from the fire brigade in Heusden-Zolder, who died during a major fire in Beringen (2019), were posthumously awarded the decoration of courage, self-sacrifice and humanity. Their wives also received a cheque for 500 euros each in support.
Arno Barzan, who was severely burned during the same intervention, also received the medal for courage, self-sacrifice and humanity.
Afterwards the whole fire brigade of Heusden-Zolder received the medal of Commander in the Order of the Belgian Cross for their unceasing efforts for our community.
Also princess Lydia Tellings-Mens received posthumously the decoration of Grand Officer in the order of the Belgian Cross. Prince Karel Tellings accepted the medal.
After these honours our nominated members received their badges of honour from National President Rudy Maes and Grand Chancellor Gilbert Gerard.
The party continued with a delicious dinner.
We hope to meet again next year.
